Arhaus, a hybrid of the Danish city “Aarhus,” and the German word for “house,” was founded in 1986 by father-son team, John and Jack Reed. With a passion to provide unique, high quality, well-designed home furnishings they set off to design their own products, traveling the globe to work directly with skilled artisans.
Today their designers continue to search the world to bring fresh influences, unique colors, and unexpected silhouettes. Fine products are created from natural hardwoods like Cherry and Elm, and natural stone tabletops. Priding themselves in delivering 100% organic cotton fabrics and true wrought iron beds, forged from iron using time-honored methods and uncompromising handwork, they believe furniture should do more than just sit there; tables are designed with hidden leaves, washable slipcovers, and construction made to last for generations. Every Arhaus piece meets its high-quality standards.
Arhaus, a relative newcomer to the Valley, having opened its flagship store in the former 31,000 square foot two-story Barnes & Noble store at Kierland Commons in late 2015. The Biltmore store quickly followed the Scottsdale store later that same year.
Valley Arhaus showrooms hold 27 collections of custom-designed and one-of-a-kind home furnishings. Besides Arhaus’ exclusive lines, they source and refurbish antiques from France, Indonesia, and other locales.
Arhaus is no stranger to supporting good causes. They have made a commitment to the earth's resources by developing unique, yet functional pieces from recycled natural resources. Besides finding forgotten antiques and giving them new life, Arhaus recycles copper into tabletops and harvests tree roots and transform them into chairs. Arhaus believes in sustainably planting one tree through American Forests for every purchase made during its storewide sale; up to 25,000 trees.
Arhaus has participated in The Small World which gives women, especially those who are single or widowed with children, valuable marketable skills, like training in traditional weaving techniques. Arhaus has also partnered with Global Dental Relief to help bring much-needed dental care to more than 25,000 children living around the world.
With forward thinking storytellers the Arhaus mission is to make Arhaus your home.
